The 4th Annual Love of the Horse 5k took place last weekend at The Equine Medical Center of Ocala. The race benefitted the Foundation for the Horse, a group with over 25 years dedicated to improving the welfare of horses through education and research.
188 people finished the race, with Tom Patchett coming in first for the men with a time of 19:15 and Lauren Lumley taking first for the women with a time of 20:20. Patrick Warden was the top male master’s athlete with a time of 19:44, and Estela Medina was the top female master’s athlete with a time of 23:44. Chapman Stewart was the top male under 18 finisher with a time of 19:53, and Alanna Doyle was the top female under 18 finisher with a time of 22:08. Supporting the race in force was the team from Marion County Runs. They were 61 runners strong in support of the event!
The race was timed by Milestone Race Authority, and it was a great success! Congratulations to all the participants who took part in this event and supported such an important cause. With their help, the Foundation for the Horse will be able to continue its work in improving the welfare of horses around the world.
