The inaugural Cogent Bank Ocala Cup 5K united 143 runners in Ocala’s historic district, raising $20,000 for local charities. High school freshmen Chapman Stewart and Rachel Chiles claimed victories, while spinal cord injury survivor Tom Ingram marked his two-year recovery journey by completing the race against all odds.
The P.A.W. Chili Challenge & Hub-Cat Car Show on January 11, 2025, at McPherson Government Campus in Ocala, combines a car show, chili tastings, and family-friendly activities to support Sheltering Hands, Inc. and Marion County’s animal welfare initiatives. The event features trophies, raffles, and limited chili tasting passes, all aimed at raising awareness for local animals.
The inaugural 5K for Good and fourth annual Concert for Good, both presented by Citizens First Bank, are raising funds for Brother’s Keeper and Marion County Children’s Alliance. The 5K saw Eduardo Diaz win in 15:38, with event co-founder Luke Lombardo taking second in 16:19, and Ximena Diaz winning the women’s division in 20:34.
