Ocala Distance Project Runners Make a Statement at Wildcat Middle School Open

The Ocala Distance Project runners traveled to Wildwood to compete in the Wildcat Middle School open on March 2nd. The team arrived ready to compete and make a statement. The day started with the girls 4×800, where they placed 2nd overall with a time of 11:18.72. The boys 4×800 team was next up, and they won with an impressive time of 9:27.33. Their time qualified them for the FLYRA Middle School State Championships.

Following the 4×800 was the 1600. The girls 1600 saw Rachel Chiles place 3rd in a time of 5:54.5, Natalie Lammens placed 4th with a 5:57.3, Rylee McGovern 8th with a 6:23.7, and Reese McGovern 10th with a 6:35.3. The boys 1600 was next, and Jacob Rogers and Alex Lammens finished first and second with times of 4:59.4 and 5:00.1. Both runners qualified for state in this event. Jacob McGoven placed 6th in a time of 5:44.05.

Next up was the boys 400m, where Zade Hamed placed 4th with a time of 1:00.15. The 800 meters were next on the schedule. In the girls’ race, Rachel Chiles placed 2nd with a time of 2:37.68. Tatiana Dobkowski placed 6th in 2:52.10, and Brooklyn Risner placed 10th in 3:05.99. In the boys 800, Zade Hamid placed 1st with an impressive time of 2:41.72.

The night concluded with the 3000 meters. Alanna Doyle placed 2nd with a time of 12:00.92, Ansley Roberts placed 4th in 12:02.88, and Brooklyn Risner placed 8th in 14:20.94.

The Ocala Distance Project runners showcased their talent and dedication to the sport at the Wildcat Middle School open. They proved that hard work pays off and that they are ready to compete at the state level.
