About Coehadjoe Park

Coehadjoe Park is a Marion County community park in the northeast part of Ocala, just off NE 35th Street. It is one of the better-equipped multi-sport public parks in the area, with courts for tennis, pickleball, basketball, racquetball, and volleyball all on site. Families come for the playground and the Born Learning Trail; adults come for the courts and the walking paths.

The park’s footprint is built around recreation rather than wilderness. The nature-themed play area, provided in partnership with the Success by 6 early childhood initiative, gives toddlers and grade-school kids a safe space to explore. Shaded picnic pavilions are available throughout the park and can be reserved for birthday parties, family reunions, and corporate group events through Marion County Parks & Recreation.

The walking trails wind through wooded sections of the property and are suited for casual neighborhood walks and wildlife viewing rather than long-distance hiking. Leashed dogs are welcome. There is no lake, no waterway, no fishing access, and no camping at Coehadjoe Park — it is a day-use community park. For nearby fishing, see Carney Island Recreation Area on Lake Weir; for camping, see options in the Ocala National Forest.

Things to Do at Coehadjoe Park

Multi-Sport Courts

Coehadjoe is a go-to public park for racquet and court sports in Ocala. The tennis courts are also lined for pickleball, and there are additional dedicated pickleball courts, plus basketball, racquetball, and volleyball courts. Bring your own gear — most courts are first-come, first-served and free to use during park hours.

Playground & Born Learning Trail

The nature-themed play area is geared toward younger kids and pairs well with the Born Learning Trail, an interactive series of stations that turn a walk into an early-childhood learning activity. Benches and shaded areas nearby make it comfortable for parents and caregivers to settle in for a longer visit.

Picnic Pavilions & Group Functions

Pavilions can be reserved for private group functions, including birthday parties, family reunions, and corporate outings. Call Marion County Parks at (352) 671-8560 for current pavilion rental rates and to check availability. Horseshoe pits and picnic tables round out the day-use facilities.

Walking Trails & Wildlife

Walking trails loop through wooded portions of the park, making for a pleasant casual walk and an easy chance to see common Florida wildlife — songbirds, squirrels, and the occasional gopher tortoise. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trails, and restrooms are available on site.
