Light Up Ocala
Light Up Ocala serves as the official kickoff to Ocala's holiday season, transforming downtown into a festive wonderland. This longstanding community tradition attracts thousands to historic downtown Ocala each year, marking over four decades of holiday celebration in Marion County.
The annual event takes place at Ocala Historic Downtown Square, featuring an evening of entertainment with multiple entertainment zones, over 100 vendors, and activities designed for all ages. Families gather to enjoy live music, browse artisan crafts, and sample local food offerings while anticipating the evening's highlight.
The celebration culminates with the grand lighting ceremony at 7 PM, when thousands of lights illuminate the downtown area in a dazzling display of colorful holiday decorations. The Junior Sunshine Parade, featuring local youth groups, school bands, dance studios, and Scouts, winds through downtown before the ceremonial lighting, with a special appearance by Santa.
This cherished tradition represents more than just a holiday event – it embodies Ocala's community spirit and serves as a moment when residents come together to celebrate life, joy, and the bonds that make Marion County a special place to call home.
