Silver Springs Shores Country Club

The Country Club at Silver Springs Shores is a semi-private golf and social club located at 633 Silver Road in the Silver Springs Shores community of Ocala, Florida. Opened in 1969, the club has served as a recreational and social anchor for the surrounding residential community for more than five decades. The 18-hole golf course was designed by Desmond Muirhead, a Cambridge-educated land planner and course architect born in England in 1923 who went on to become one of the most influential golf course designers of the 20th century. Muirhead is perhaps best known for his collaboration with Jack Nicklaus on Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, home of the PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament.

The parkland-style course at Silver Springs Shores stretches 6,857 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, a course rating of 73.5, and a slope rating of 133. The opening nine provides a traditional parkland experience with large native trees lining wide, open landing areas. Water comes into play on eight holes throughout the layout, requiring thoughtful course management alongside shot-making ability. The greens are consistently cited as among the fastest and most severe in the Ocala area, presenting a legitimate challenge for players at every skill level and making the course a respected venue for competitive events.

Beyond the golf course, the club's 19,000-square-foot clubhouse serves as a gathering point for members and visitors. The facility includes a full-service restaurant and bar, complete locker room facilities, a pro shop stocked with current golf equipment and apparel, and a large main hall that accommodates golf functions, banquets, and private events. The dining and social offerings give the club a broader appeal than golf alone, making it a community hub for the Silver Springs Shores neighborhood and greater Marion County.

The Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has hosted a variety of competitive events over the years, including mini-tour tournaments and U.S. Open Section qualifying rounds. The club's membership structure is flexible, with options ranging from one-month to six-month plans for individuals and couples. Members also gain access to a network of sister courses in the region, including Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club, Lakeside Country Club, and Miona Lake Golf Club, expanding playing options across Central Florida.
