Where Is the Silver Springs Shores Community Center?
The community center is at 590 Silver Road in Silver Springs Shores, in Ocala's 34472 ZIP code. The bus will be at that address for the full day, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to DOH-Marion.
What Is the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program?
The Nov. 6 event is listed alongside the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, which DOH-Marion describes as giving access to free or low-cost breast cancer screenings statewide to women who are uninsured or underinsured, have a low income, and meet the program's requirements.
The state's program page lists these eligibility requirements: at least 40 years old, little or no health insurance, income within the program's guidelines, and living in Florida. The program offers clinical breast exams, mammograms and Pap tests as funding allows, care coordination for any client with an abnormal exam, and referral to Florida Medicaid for an eligibility determination for women screened through the program who are diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer. The statewide program line is 850-245-4144.
The Nov. 6 bus has narrower rules than the statewide program: an upper age limit of 64, no health insurance at all, household income at or below 200% of the poverty level, and no symptoms. The DOH-Marion announcement also links to the department's breast cancer information page, which covers breast cancer screening and prevention.
