What is Brown and Brown Farms near Ocala?

Brown and Brown Farms is a three-generation Brown family farm at 13940 US-301 in Oxford, Florida, on the Marion and Sumter county line about seven miles south of Belleview. It now operates as Brown’s Adventure Farm, with u-pick strawberries in late winter, a year-round country store, a monthly Junk in the Trunk market and fall festivals.

According to the family’s own history, the Browns started farming the land in 1955 on 93 acres after a branch of the family settled in Oxford in 1915. The operation has since grown past 1,600 acres, with satellite farms in Jackson County, Florida, and Houston County, Alabama, and a grass seed business that grows and packages TifQuik and other seed. The country store began as a roadside stand in 1977 and now fills a 5,500-square-foot converted tomato packing house.

This page covers the everyday visit: picking, shopping and the monthly market. For the fall festival’s weekend themes, tickets and attractions, see the Brown’s Adventure Farm 2026 fall festival guide.

The farm’s address is 13940 US-301, Oxford, FL 34484. It sits directly on the Marion and Sumter county line, about seven miles south of Belleview and two miles north of County Road 466. Oxford is a Sumter County community, so the farm is just outside Marion County.

  • From downtown Ocala: take US-441/301 south on Pine Avenue toward Belleview and stay on US-301 through town. The farm is about 7 miles past Belleview on the right. Allow roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
  • From I-75: take exit 341 and follow CR 484 east toward Belleview for about 6.5 miles, turn right onto US-301 south, and go about 5 miles. The farm is on the right.
  • From The Villages: head west on CR 466 to US-301, turn right and go about 2 miles north. The farm is on the left.

What Should You Bring to Brown and Brown Farms?

The field is open farmland with dirt rows and little shade, and the farm’s own advice is to come protected from the sun and in proper shoes.

  • Sun hats and sunscreen. The farm asks visitors to bring both.
  • Closed-toe shoes. The farm warns against flip-flops; the picking rows are dirt.
  • A cooler in the car. Fresh-picked berries hold up better on the drive back to Ocala if kept cool. Outside food and coolers are not allowed inside festivals.
  • A quick call first. The farm does not say online whether it supplies picking containers; ask at (352) 303-1550 along with the day’s hours.

Not allowed: pets other than service dogs, outside golf carts, drones, weapons, and professional photo or video gear without permission. Electric scooters are welcome.

Is Brown and Brown Farms Good for Kids?

Yes, and it is set up for them. On strawberry-season weekends, the $10 Adventure Pass gives children unlimited play on the Six Shooter Mega Slide, jumping pillows, Spider Climb, Barnyard Twister, Tiny Town, tire swings, bubble stations and Amish playsets, and the weekend food stand sells strawberry shortcake and strawberry milkshakes. The pass is not sold on weekday u-pick days, which makes weekdays the quieter, cheaper choice for picking alone.

  • Children 16 and under must be with an adult. Children 2 and under get in free to paid events.
  • The country store is wheelchair accessible. The grounds are generally flat with some bumps, so a sturdy stroller does better than a light umbrella stroller. The farm does not post a stroller policy.
  • Go early in the day. The farm says field availability depends on how quickly the rows get picked, and mornings are cooler for small children.
