Continuing through the peak of summer, the Ocala Distance Project's July track runs focus on building aerobic threshold and endurance. Coach Darrin DeTorres guides participants through workouts designed to increase stamina. This session features 800-meter repeats at target 5K pace, helping runners find their rhythm and practice even pacing.
These weekly community workouts are open to runners of all experience levels, from high school cross-country athletes to beginners looking to improve personal fitness. Coach DeTorres advises runners on active recovery, emphasizing the use of slow jogging rather than standing during rest periods. Participants meet at the Forest High School track, should bring a personal water bottle, and are encouraged to arrive early to join the group warmup. This specific track run event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Forest High School track.
