Board Responsibilities

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners makes decisions affecting over 350,000 residents.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Approve and manage the county budget ($600+ million annually)
Set county tax rates and impact fees
Oversee county departments and services
Make land use and zoning decisions
Approve development and infrastructure projects
Represent citizens in regional and state matters
Hire and evaluate the County Administrator
Establish policies for public safety and emergency services
Manage parks, libraries, and recreational facilities
Coordinate with municipalities on regional issues
