Editor’s note (May 2026)

An earlier version of this page described “Jennifer Springs” as a first-magnitude spring along the Juniper Creek system in the Ocala National Forest. We could not verify that a real spring by this name exists. Florida’s first-magnitude springs are well documented — the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, USGS, and U.S. Forest Service all maintain comprehensive lists, and Jennifer Springs is not on any of them. The Juniper Creek system contains the well-known Juniper Springs and Fern Hammock Springs; we’re not aware of any third named spring on that system. The page has been rewritten to redirect to verified Florida springs in the Ocala area.

The Juniper Creek System

The Juniper Creek / Juniper Run system in the Ocala National Forest is fed by two named verified springs:

  • Juniper Springs — the head spring at the Juniper Springs Recreation Area at 26701 SR 40, Silver Springs, FL. CCC-built in the 1930s.
  • Fern Hammock Springs — the famous “Aquarium” spring along the Juniper Creek Nature Trail from Juniper Springs. Look-only viewing platform on a wooden footbridge over the spring pool.

Together those two are the recognized Juniper Run head springs. If you arrived here looking for a third spring on that system, you may be thinking of Fern Hammock under a different name, or a smaller boil that is not separately named in any authoritative directory.
