The Villages Town Square, About 30 Miles South of Ocala

Brownwood Paddock Square in The Villages

Free live music every night from 5 to 9 PM, a Saturday morning market, shops and more than a dozen restaurants in a town square built to look like an old Florida cattle town. Here is what an Ocala visitor needs to know.

Brownwood Paddock Square is a town square in The Villages, Florida, at 2705 West Torch Lake Drive, The Villages, FL 32163, in Sumter County about 32 miles south of Ocala by I-75. The Villages lists it as open 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily with free live entertainment on the Log Cabin Stage every night from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, a Hometown Market every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and a directory of restaurants and shops around the square.

What Is Brownwood Paddock Square?

Brownwood Paddock Square is one of the five town squares of The Villages, the large retirement community that spreads across Sumter, Lake and Marion counties south of Ocala. The Villages describes Brownwood as a place to immerse yourself in the charm of an early 19th century Florida cattle town, and the square is built around the Log Cabin Stage, where the nightly music happens. The Villages Entertainment lists the stage address as 2726 Brownwood Boulevard, The Villages, FL 32163, a block from the 2705 West Torch Lake Drive address on the square's own page.

The square is a commercial district, not a gated amenity. Anyone can drive in, park, shop, eat and watch the band. For Ocala residents it works as an easy evening out or a Saturday morning trip: the market runs in the morning, the restaurants fill the afternoon, and the free music starts at 5 PM. The site also hosts festivals through the year, including the Brownwood Strawberry Festival and the community's Fourth of July All-American Celebration.

Brownwood Paddock Square is not in Ocala or Marion County. It sits in the southwestern part of The Villages in Sumter County, next to the Brownwood Hotel & Spa and The Lofts at Brownwood apartments. This guide covers the address, hours, the nightly entertainment, the Hometown Market, the restaurants and shops the official directory lists, the festivals, and the drive down from Ocala. Every fact comes from The Villages' own pages, The Villages Entertainment or Sumter County's tourism office, with road distances from a Google Maps estimate, and the lists below reflect the official directories as of October 2026.

The two things that bring people to Brownwood on a schedule: the band every evening and the market every Saturday.

Live Music on the Log Cabin Stage, 5 to 9 PM

The Villages states that Brownwood has free nightly entertainment 365 days a year with live music on the Log Cabin Stage, and The Villages Entertainment calendar lists the nightly hours as 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Guests sing along from stadium seating or dance in the square. Bands and DJs rotate nightly; the current lineup is published on The Villages Entertainment calendar and in the square's monthly happenings. The Villages Entertainment has moved the hours later during past summers, so check the calendar for the current month.

For venues closer to home, see our live music in Ocala guide.

Hometown Market, Saturdays 9 AM to 1 PM

The Villages Entertainment runs the Hometown Market at Brownwood Paddock Square every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It describes the market as a large outdoor market of fresh local produce and handmade goods, with vendor categories for farm produce, baked goods and sweets, wellness and body products, art, jewelry and gifts, and home, yard and golf cart items. Golf car parking is set aside on Kiessel Road and West Torch Lake Drive, and a weekly vendor map is posted online.

Festivals, the Hotel and the Other Town Squares

Festivals at Brownwood

The square's festival calendar includes the Brownwood Strawberry Festival each spring and The Villages' Fourth of July All-American Celebration, which in 2022 brought live music, market vendors, food trucks, craft beer, classic American cars and a projected light show to the square. On October 31, 2026, Brownwood is one of four squares hosting a Halloween celebration with live entertainment and a costume contest. Dates change each year and are published by The Villages Entertainment.

Brownwood Hotel & Spa

The Brownwood Hotel & Spa, 3003 Brownwood Boulevard, The Villages, FL 32163, (352) 626-1246, is the hotel on the square. The Villages describes it as offering rooms, a medi-spa, and access to the shopping, dining and entertainment nearby in the square. Visitors who would rather sleep in Marion County can use our Ocala hotels guide.

The Five Town Squares

The Villages lists five squares with free live entertainment, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM nightly at the main squares: Spanish Springs Town Square (1120 Main Street, 32159), Lake Sumter Landing Market Square (1000 Lake Sumter Landing, 32162), Brownwood Paddock Square (2705 West Torch Lake Drive, 32163), Sawgrass Grove (766 Marilee Place, 32163) and Eastport (6980 Central Lake Drive, 34762). Spanish Springs is the closest to Ocala.

Visiting Brownwood Paddock Square from Ocala

Brownwood sits in the southwestern part of The Villages, so it is a longer drive from Ocala than Spanish Springs: about 32 miles down I-75 South or about 27 miles down US 301 South through Belleview and Summerfield, roughly 40 minutes by Google Maps estimate. The US 301 corridor is busy near The Villages at commuter hours, so a midday or weekend departure is the easier drive.

A workable plan for a Saturday: leave Ocala mid-morning for the Hometown Market (9 AM to 1 PM), have lunch at one of the square's restaurants, browse the shops, and stay for the first set on the Log Cabin Stage at 5 PM. On any other day, an early dinner followed by the 5-to-9 PM music is the usual evening. The music is free, so the only costs are food, drink and whatever the shops sell.
