Every week brings live music across multiple venues, and every Saturday at the Ocala Downtown Market, a few blocks off the downtown square, farmers, artisans, craftspeople and food trucks sell under a covered open-air pavilion. South of town in Belleview, the Market of Marion flea and farmers market is open Friday through Sunday. The World Equestrian Center, one of the largest equestrian venues in the world, hosts competitions nearly every week during its winter circuit and stages non-equestrian events throughout the rest of the year.
The arts scene anchors much of the weekend activity. First Friday Art Walk transforms downtown Ocala into an open-air gallery once a month, Reilly Arts Center books touring musicians and comedians year-round, and Appleton Museum of Art opens its doors for free on the first Saturday of every month. First Friday Art Walk
FreeOn the first Friday of every month from October through May (the January Art Walk moves to the second Friday), downtown Ocala becomes an open-air art gallery. More than 40 artists and arts organizations display original work along the historic square, with live music, food vendors, and participating galleries creating a festive atmosphere. It is one of Ocala's most popular recurring events, drawing residents and visitors from across Marion County.
Ocala Downtown Market
Every SaturdayEvery Saturday, farmers, artisans, craftspeople and food trucks set up at the Ocala Downtown Market, a covered open-air pavilion a few blocks off the downtown square. The market runs rain or shine. Not to be confused with the Market of Marion, the large flea and farmers market in Belleview.
Live Music Nightly
Ocala's live music scene runs every night of the week. O'Malley's Alley books nightly acts from acoustic to rock, with free oysters on Friday evenings. Brick City Southern Kitchen hosts Thursday night music at 8 PM. Multiple downtown bars and restaurants feature weekend acts, and The Crazy Cucumber books regular live bands and salsa nights. Something is playing somewhere every weekend.
Reilly Arts Center Shows
The Reilly Arts Center is Ocala's premier performance venue, hosting touring musicians, comedy shows, theatrical productions, and their popular Dueling Pianos series. The intimate venue provides excellent sightlines from every seat. Shows run throughout the week with weekend performances being the most popular. World Equestrian Center
One of the largest equestrian competition venues in the world, the World Equestrian Center hosts hunter/jumper and dressage competitions nearly year-round. The winter circuit (January through April) brings thousands of riders and spectators from across the globe. Many competitions are free to watch. The venue also hosts non-equestrian events including expos, concerts, and seasonal celebrations on its expansive grounds.
Appleton Museum Free First Saturday
FreeOn the first Saturday of every month, the Appleton Museum of Art at the College of Central Florida opens its doors with free admission. The museum features rotating exhibitions alongside its permanent collection of fine art, decorative arts, and antiquities. Free First Saturdays often include family programming, artist demonstrations, and special exhibition openings. It is one of the best free cultural experiences in Marion County.
