Where to Get a Christmas Tree in Ocala 2026
Cut-your-own farms, Ocala National Forest permits and where to take the tree when the holidays are over, with only the dates each place has posted.

Real Christmas trees in Marion County are mostly a choose-and-cut business: Florida-grown sand pine, cypress and cedar trees cut in the field, plus North Carolina Fraser firs trucked in pre-cut. Every row below comes from the farm's own website or Facebook page, its Google Maps listing or the Forest Service, and nothing is listed that we could not find on such a page. Last checked Nov. 2, 2026. For the rest of the season, see our Christmas events in Ocala guide.

On its Facebook page, the farm described its 2025 offerings as Florida sand pine, cypress and cedar trees in the choose-and-cut field, plus pre-cut North Carolina Fraser firs, and noted that its potted trees were cypress. Kandy Kane Christmas Treeland guideGibbs Christmas Tree Farm, Citra
The farm's Facebook page calls it "a small choose and cut tree farm" open Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting after Thanksgiving, at 9740 E Highway 318 in Citra. Its most recent post, from Dec. 4, 2025, thanked families for a busy Thanksgiving weekend. It had not posted a 2026 opening date as of Nov. 2, and we did not find a Google Maps listing for it, so confirm the address and phone, (352) 598-6860, before you go.
Nicholas's Christmas Tree Farm, Summerfield
Google Maps lists Nicholas's as a tree farm at 14260 SE 80th Ave in Summerfield, phone (352) 245-8633, in the southern part of Marion County. Reviewers describe choosing and cutting their own sand pine, red cedar and Carolina Sapphire cypress. We could not open a working website for the farm, and no 2026 dates were posted as of Nov. 2.
David's Christmas Tree Farm, Fort McCoy

Cutting a Tree in Ocala National Forest
The U.S. Forest Service sells a seasonal Ocala National Forest Christmas Tree Permit through Recreation.gov. Permits go on sale Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. Eastern, and the 2026 season runs from Saturday, Nov. 21, through Friday, Dec. 25. The price is $10 per tree, with a maximum of five trees per permit.
Recreation.gov says cutting is allowed only in designated areas marked by signs, with PDF maps of the two cutting areas available to download with the permit. Trees may be up to 25 feet tall, stumps can be no higher than 6 inches, and the entire felled tree must be used, though trimmings may be scattered inside the cutting area at least 50 feet from roads. Print the permit and bring it, because the page warns cell service may be spotty and says not to rely on GPS for forest roads. It also reminds visitors that the season overlaps hunting season and to wear bright clothing. Questions go to the Lake George Ranger District at (352) 625-2520.
More on the permit season is on the Ocala National Forest Christmas tree permit event page, and our Ocala National Forest guide covers the rest of the forest.
Pre-Cut Trees
Kandy Kane's Facebook page said it offered pre-cut North Carolina Fraser firs last season. Lowe's lists fresh-cut real trees on its website in 4-to-5, 5-to-6 and 6-to-7-foot sizes, along with Fraser, Douglas and Noble firs, with online price ranges and pickup and delivery options on each product page. We did not confirm stock at any Ocala store, and we could not confirm tree sales at other big-box stores from their own pages, so we are not listing them. We also found no church or nonprofit tree lot with a 2026 page of its own, so none is listed.
The Forest Service's tree-care advice on Recreation.gov applies to any real tree: cut the bottom of the trunk off at home, stand the fresh cut in a bucket of water and keep refilling it. If a tree waits outside for a few days, it suggests a spot out of the wind, such as the north or east side of the house.
After Christmas: Where the Tree Goes
Marion County Solid Waste operates 18 recycling centers. A county notice from Dec. 22, 2017, said Christmas trees with decorations removed can go in the yard waste area at any recycling center. The county's current page on materials accepted lists yard waste as leaves, hedge clippings and small branches, with a limit of two cubic yards a day and branches under four inches thick and four feet long, and it does not name Christmas trees. It also says the Hog Valley and Lake George sites take only household garbage and single-stream recycling. The county's page also bars drop-offs of household garbage, electronics and hazardous waste from those who do not pay the solid waste assessment, so ask before hauling a tree to a center if you live inside a city. Call Solid Waste at 352-671-8465 to confirm how to handle a whole tree.
Inside the City of Ocala, the city says Residential Sanitation provides garbage, yard waste and bulk collection one day each week. Its page gives no Christmas tree rule, so call 352-351-6697 before putting a tree at the curb. Neither page announces a tree-pickup program for 2026.
