Moffitt Cancer Center Opens Its First Ocala Office, Moffitt First Connect
This is a local news news article published on 2026-10-12 covering local Marion County, Florida news. Moffitt Cancer Center opened Moffitt First Connect at 11115 SW 93rd Court Road in Ocala on Sept. 14. The office sees new patients with breast, GI, genitourinary and lung cancers within three business days, then connects them to Moffitt specialists for treatment.
The office is not a treatment center. It is a front door. Its job is to evaluate new patients quickly and move them to the right Moffitt specialists at its other locations.
What the Ocala office does
Moffitt's location page says the office "will see patients within three business days" to establish care at Moffitt. It is led by a team of oncology-focused advanced practice professionals (APPs), who serve as the patient's first point of contact.
The Ocala office sees four groups of cancers:
- Breast cancer
- Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers
- Genitourinary (GU) cancers
- Thoracic (lung) cancers
The appointment is meant for new patients at several stages, according to Moffitt: people with a new cancer diagnosis, people with a strong suspicion of cancer, patients already in treatment who want to move their care to Moffitt, patients whose cancer has come back, and patients who want a second opinion.
At the first visit, the Ocala team reviews the patient's medical history and does an initial clinical assessment. Staff collect pathology reports, lab results and imaging, set up any more testing needed before the patient sees an oncologist, and match the patient with the right cancer specialists. They also answer questions and explain Moffitt's support services.

Where treatment happens
Treatment does not happen in Ocala. Moffitt says most patients will be referred to specialists at Moffitt at Speros Outpatient Center or Moffitt at Wesley Chapel, with referrals to other Moffitt locations when appropriate.
The office also helps patients look at possible clinical trials and plan the move into treatment, according to the announcement.
What Moffitt said
"Moffitt First Connect is essential to providing community-based rapid access to Moffitt expertise," said Dr. Nainesh Parikh, Moffitt's chief clinical expansion and partnerships officer, in the announcement.
Parikh also said, "We are proud to strengthen our presence in Ocala and north central Florida, deepening our partnerships with local physicians, health systems and community organizations."
The announcement also quotes Amy Bondon, an Ocala resident and Moffitt volunteer patient advisor who was referred to Moffitt nearly seven years ago over concerns that she had cervical cancer. "At Moffitt, I didn't feel alone," she said.
Hours and how to reach the office
According to Moffitt's location page, the Ocala office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed on weekends. The listed phone number is 813-745-8044. Moffitt's main scheduling line is 1-888-663-3488.
