Ocala Road Work This Week: NE 2nd Street, SE 11th Avenue and SW 66th Street Bridge, Oct. 25-31, 2026

Two City of Ocala projects close streets east and southeast of downtown during the week of Sunday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. NE 2nd Street closes for a day on Monday, Oct. 26, and the NE 2nd Street and NE 8th Avenue intersection closes on Wednesday, Oct. 28, while crews replace water services. Weekday lane and sidewalk closures continue on SE 11th Avenue through Nov. 2. On the state side, the SW 66th Street bridge over I-75 remains closed. Downtown, the Ocala Arts Festival's no-parking zones stay in place until 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.

NE 2nd Street: Two More Closures

Miller Pipeline LLC is replacing water services along NE 2nd Street. After the Oct. 19-21 closure, the city lists two more.

Monday, Oct. 26: NE Sanchez Avenue to NE 8th Avenue

NE 2nd Street will be closed between NE Sanchez Avenue and NE 8th Avenue from 7 a.m. to about 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. The detour differs from last week's: it uses NE Tuscawilla Avenue instead of NE Sanchez Avenue.

• Eastbound: north on NE Tuscawilla Avenue, east on NE 3rd Street, south on NE 8th Avenue, then back to NE 2nd Street.


• Westbound: north on NE 8th Avenue, west on NE 3rd Street, south on NE Tuscawilla Avenue, then back to NE 2nd Street.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: NE 2nd Street and NE 8th Avenue Intersection

The intersection of NE 2nd Street and NE 8th Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.

• Eastbound: north on NE Sanchez Avenue, east on NE 3rd Street, south on NE 10th Avenue, then back to NE 2nd Street.


• Westbound: north on NE 10th Avenue, west on NE 3rd Street, south on NE Sanchez Avenue, then back to NE 2nd Street.


• Northbound on NE 8th Avenue: west on State Road 40, north on NE Sanchez Avenue, east on NE 3rd Street, then back to NE 8th Avenue.


• Southbound on NE 8th Avenue: west on NE 3rd Street, south on NE Sanchez Avenue, then back to State Road 40.

SE 11th Avenue Resurfacing

Travel lane and sidewalk closures continue on SE 11th Avenue from State Road 40 to SE Lake Weir Avenue for a road resurfacing project that began Aug. 31 and is scheduled through Monday, Nov. 2. Work runs Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the city warns of delays, noise, dust and heavy equipment during work hours. Downtown Ocala: Festival No-Parking Ends Sunday Night

The Ocala Arts Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city's conditional special event permit keeps the event zone's "No Parking" signs in place from midnight Friday, Oct. 23, through 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, on streets including SE Broadway, W Fort King Street and SE 2nd Street, and estimates breakdown will be finished by 10 p.m. Sunday. SW 66th Street Bridge Over I-75: Still Closed

FDOT District 5's Marion County lane closure list says the SW 66th Street bridge over I-75 has been closed since Monday, June 15, 2026, and stays closed until mid-June 2027 for reconstruction. Drivers are directed to the SW 43rd Street Road bridge.

• Heading east: take SR 200 east to SW 43rd Street Road, turn right, and cross I-75 on the SW 43rd Street Road bridge.


• Heading west: take SW 27th Avenue north to SW 42nd Street and turn left, cross I-75 on the SW 43rd Street Road bridge, then turn left on NW 40th Avenue or continue to SR 200.

State Roads: FDOT List Not Yet Posted

As of Oct. 20, FDOT's Marion County list still showed only the week of Oct. 18-23. It covered overnight work on northbound I-75 between SR 200 and SR 326 and southbound I-75 between south of SR 44 and SR 200, nighttime closures at SR 200 and SW 60th Avenue, and nighttime resurfacing on U.S. 27/441 between Summerfield and Belleview. Last week's schedule is in Ocala road work for Oct. 18-23. This article will be updated when FDOT posts the Oct. 25-31 list. Drivers heading to hotels near I-75 late at night should allow extra time.
