Haunted Houses Near Ocala: Williston and Umatilla

The closest full walk-through haunted houses with live actors are outside Marion County. Williston is northwest of Ocala off US-27 and Umatilla is southeast off SR-40 and SR-19. Each is roughly a 30- to 45-minute drive from downtown Ocala depending on where you start.

Tips for Visiting Haunted Attractions Near Ocala

Buy ahead and arrive early
Homestead Haunt and Kirby Farm both charge $5 more at the gate, and Kirby closes entry at 9 p.m. Silver Springs asks riders to check in 30 minutes before the boat leaves and does not refund missed tours. The last two weekends before Halloween sell out first.
Match the haunt to the kid
Fort King before 8 p.m. and the Silver Springs boat tour are the gentle options. Homestead Haunt recommends age 12 and up, and Kirby Farm says the ScaryTrain is not for small children. The Rocky Horror shadowcast is 18 and up.
Dress for woods at night
The Williston and Umatilla haunts are outdoor trails on farms and wooded land. Closed-toe shoes, bug spray and a light layer for late October make the wait in line easier. Leave masks and props at home; most haunts prohibit them.
