Downtown Ocala’s main trick-or-treat night is the free Gray Family Halloween Festival at the Ocala Downtown Market, 403 SE Osceola Ave, on Friday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 10 p.m. More than 60 vendor booths hand out candy, costume contests start at 8 p.m. and no registration is needed. The same pavilion hosts the free Horse-O-Ween on Friday, Oct. 23, from 3:30 to 8 p.m.
For shopping-center trick-or-treating, Paddock Mall, 3100 SW College Rd, holds its free Candy Crawl on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with candy at participating stores. The mall encourages costumes but does not allow full-face masks or weapon props. It is indoors, so it goes ahead in any weather.
